Transient Voltage Suppressor Diode (TVS Diode):
Diode with overload protection

The TVS Diode combines a diode with overload protection within one housing. Various types of diodes and TVS can be combined, whereby a parallel connection as well as a series connection is possible. A TVS Diode is used in particular for the protection of sensitive components. As long as it is not thermally destroyed, the TVS Diode does not cause – unlike a gas filled discharger – a voltage drop; therefore, it stays operable.
